The AAAHC announced last week that it recently accredited its 2,000th ambulatory care facility.
The Sapling Grove Surgery Center in Bristol, TN became the 2,000th AAAHC-accredited facility, according to a release posted on the organization's Web site on December 1. The AAAHC was founded in 1979, and is, alongside the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations, one of the nation's primary accreditors of ambulatory care centers.
In the statement, Dr. Gerald Eads, president of the AAAHC, remarked, "As the ambulatory healthcare sector places increasing emphasis on quality care, the Accreditation Association is experiencing strong growth among organizations seeking validation of their quality of care through accreditation. Having 2,000 accredited organizations marks an important milestone in the growth of the Accreditation Association, and we are proud to continue the accreditation of ambulatory care organizations."
Sapling Grove, which opened in 2001, is part of the Holston Medical Group, and offers ambulatory services in the specialties of plastic surgery, gastrointestinal, gynecology, orthopedics, podiatry, pain management, and oral surgery. The surgery center received a three-year term of accreditation, which is the longest offered by the AAAHC
