AHA meets with CDC about flu vaccine shortage
Emergency Management Alert, November 2, 2004
The American Hospital Association (AHA) met last week with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) Director Julie Gerberding, MD, to discuss the flu vaccine shortage and plans to distribute remaining vaccine, AHA News reported.
Hospitals with no vaccine are among the highest priority group to receive new vaccine shipments, Gerberding told the AHA.
The government plans to import 5 million flu vaccine doses from Germany and Canada by mid-December.
The CDC has a new hotline number, 800/CDCINFO, for consumers and providers. The CDC also has a new question and answer link on its Web site. To view the questions and answers, click here.
