St. Cloud (MN) Hospital boosted security this week in its emergency room (ER), the St. Cloud Times reported.
After several people tried to bring weapons into the ER during nonscreening hours, hospital officials decided it was time to expand screening hours.
"If we screened these individuals, that would have never happened," Bill Becker, director of safety and security told the Times. In one year, through screening, the security department discovered 1,400 knives carried by people, he said.
The hospital security department will begin 24-hour screening soon with a second metal detector and added security personnel.
