Latest hurricane hurts Florida hospitals

Emergency Management Alert, September 20, 2004

Hurricane Ivan which tore into the Gulf Coast last week damaged three Pensacola, FL, hospitals, the AHA news reported.

"The Pensacola hospitals have reported roof and water damage, but they are open and are treating patients," said Florida Hospital Association spokesperson Rich Rasmussen.

While the eye of the storm struck in Alabama, the west coast of Florida suffered from the storm. The Florida Hospital Association worked with state agencies to help the affected hospitals.

Hospitals in Louisiana and Alabama reported minimal damage from the storm.
