MedAssets settled a contract agreement with I-Flow Corp. on August 10 to offer I-Flow's pain-relief system at its ambulatory surgery centers and hospitals across the country, according to Business Wire.

MedAssets, the fastest growing group purchasing organization and supply chain manager in the country, will now have the services of I-Flow's ON-Q PainBuster-a narcotic-free surgical site pain relief system-at more than 22,000 acute-care and alternate site facilities. The ON-Q PainBuster is a small balloon pump that delivers a local anesthetic directly into the surgical site through a small tube.

The ON-Q PainBuster is considered an important addition to MedAssets providers because it decreases or eliminates the need for narcotics, reducing patient stays and increasing cost savings, according to Business Wire. Providers can use the system in knee replacements, cosmetic procedures, and other surgeries.
