Don’t miss something that’s free

Emergency Management Alert, August 13, 2004

Take advantage of the Department of Homeland Security's (DHS) Noble Training Center in Anniston, AL, where it offers emergency response training for hospital staff. After all, it's free.

Funding from the DHS covers 100% of participants' tuition, course materials, meals, lodging, and transportation costs, according to Steve Sharro, director of EMI and the Noble Training Center. (Note: Beginning fiscal year 2005, DHS will no longer pay for transportation. For more information about cost coverage, call 301/447-1035.)

"This is a great example of our tax dollars put to good use," says Deborah Johnson, RN, MSHA, chief nursing officer at Emory Dunwoody Medical Center in Atlanta, who attended the training program. "The fact that it's free makes it accessible to everyone."
