Work on a new roof caused a small fire Monday night at Nipawin Hospital in Canada, the Nipawin Journal reports. No injuries were reported.
The fire department responded to the hospital after smoke alarms went off. One of the hot spots near the wall had began to smolder and caused the small fire.
Crews cut into the roof and removed the smoldering material that caused only slight damage to part of the ward, in addition to some smoke and water damage, Fire Chief Les McGirr said.
"The contractors used a torch to seal the membrane on the roof and then used a heat gun to check for hot spots," McGirr said.
