White powder found in hospital elevator
Emergency Management Alert, July 28, 2004
Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center officials discovered a small clear bag containing white powder on an elevator at the Brockton, MA, hospital last week, The Enterprise reported.
The powder turned out to be corn starch, a fire official said.
However, the discovery of the powder prompted an emergency response. The hazardous materials team responded to evaluate the substance, but determined it to be harmless.
The discovery of the white powder didn't disrupt hospital activity, said Sonya Hapogian, a spokesman for the Caritas Christi Healthcare System.
