Learn more about mass antibiotic dispensing during live Web cast
Emergency Management Alert, June 8, 2004
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) will feature a live Web cast about mass antibiotic dispersion on Thursday, June 24, from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
The Strategic National Stockpile (SNS), established in 1999 at CDC, provides an inventory of medications and medical supplies to send to a location in the event of a large infectious disease outbreak or other public health emergency, including a bioterrorism attack.
SNS plans for the supplies to augment local and state resources. Part of planning for the arrival of SNS medications and supplies is how to dispense the antibiotics. The overarching goal of a dispensing operation is to decrease the pool of people exposed during an event.
This satellite broadcast will provide SNS planners with an overview of the critical aspects of a mass dispensing operation. The presenters will discuss policy and operational issues that need to be resolved and planned for before an event. A question and answer session will allow participants nationwide to pose questions to panelists via a toll free telephone, fax, or TTY line. For more information or to sign up, click here.
