The John Muir/Mt. Diablo Health System plans to open its $23-million Brentwood Medical Center in Walnut Creek, CA, by late December, giving Brentwood-area residents another healthcare option.

Brentwood's outpatient services will include surgery, urgent care, diagnostic imaging, laboratory testing, cardiac diagnostics, and cardiac rehabilitation. Brentwood's ambulatory surgery center will also offer orthopedic, gynecology, urology, opthamology, colorectal, ear, nose and throat, vascular, plastic, podiatric, and laparascopic operations if the facility can find enough specialists.

The area's growing population led to the construction of the new three-story, 107,000-square-foot medical center, John Muir/Mt. Diablo officials said.
