CDC releases new terrorism preparedness and response guide

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) released a National Public Health Strategy for Terrorism Preparedness and Response on Monday, May 3.

The 58-page document provides the framework of the CDC's vision, mission, strategic imperatives, critical objectives, and key actions to guide the CDC and public health community to achieve terrorism readiness.

The document looks at the following areas:

  • Detection and investigation
  • Laboratory sciences 
  • Prevention programs
  • Worker safety
  • Communication
  • Emergency response
  • Research
  • Long-term consequence management
  • Workforce development
