New Web site to offer vital information for emergency responders

Emergency Management Alert, April 19, 2004

A web site will soon offer first responders and state and local homeland security officials lessons learned and other best practices of emergency response, according to FCW media.

The Lessons Learned Information Sharing system (http:.//www.llis.dhs.gov/) will be available in a year and provide emergency and homeland security officials with effective planning, training, and operational practices from around the country.

The site will also feature published content from experts, practitioners, and evaluated peer review. Also planned for the site is information from homeland security, a catalog of after-action reports from exercises or actual incidents, and a directory of responders.

Verified emergency response providers and homeland security officials can access the site for free. However, verified officials must meet the Homeland Security Department's standards for storing the sensitive but unclassified information.
