Connecticut Gov. John Rowland said last week he would compromise on his proposed plan to cap jury awards to help ease increasing medical malpractice insurance.
Rowland said he would support a $750,000 cap on non-economic medical malpractice damages, and would allow judges to waive the limit in extreme circumstances. The governor previously wanted a $250,000 limit.
State lawmakers have considered two bills on medical malpractice. Proposals in the bills include a panel that would review medical malpractice cases for merit.
