A fire in an x-ray room at Waukesha (WI) Memorial Hospital at about 7:10 a.m. on February 16 forced officials to close the emergency department for several hours, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
The hospital moved patients in the emergency area at the time of the fire to another part of the facility. All ambulances were redirected temporarily to other hospitals until the emergency department reopened at 3:30 p.m.
A hospital spokeswoman said several rooms had water damage and some areas in the hospital need repairs, but there was minimal disruption to hospital functions.
An electrical problem in the one of the walls near an x-ray machine is the likely cause of the fire.
