Patients treated at a Toronto outpatient clinic could form the latest cluster of severe acute respiratory syndrome (SARS) cases in that city, according to the Chicago tribune on June 11.

Twelve dialysis patients who received treatment at the Lakeridge Health Centre began showing the bronchitis-like symptoms that typically signal the presence of SARS after June 1. Canadian health officials classified the cases as "under investigation" because they cannot be linked to any other source of the disease, according to the Regina Leader-Post.

Because Lakeridge is an outpatient facility, its staff was not required to use the protections that are in place at Toronto's acute-care hospitals, including the use of gowns, goggles, and masks when treating patients, according to the Leader-Post.
