Two women died after a man opened fire with a handgun inside a hospital near Vancouver on May 20 in an apparent case of domestic violence, Canadian Press reports.
Sherry Heron, 41, a patient at Mission Memorial Hospital, and her mother, Anna Adams, 68, allegedly were shot and killed by Heron's husband, Bryan. The 52-year-old prison guard fled the scene and was found on May 23, but he shot and killed himself before police could arrest him.
On May 20, a man entered the hospital and an employee recognized him as the subject of a restraining order, which had been filed with the hospital. A hospital security guard, who did not see a weapon, asked the man to leave when he went to the room where Sherry Heron was a patient.
The shooter simply walked out after killing the women, got in his car, and drove away.
