NFPA unveils fast-tracked, new standard to help with response to active shooter incidents

Spurred by coordination lapses in the aftermath of recent mass shootings, the NFPA, as promised, unveiled NFPA 3000, a Standard for an Active Shooter/Hostile Event Response. Healthcare facilities should use the new standard to review their overall preparedness for responding to mass casualty events and improving coordination with other healthcare providers, first responders, and community emergency organizations.
