In the March edition of the American Journal of Infection Control (house organ of APIC), there was a news release sharing the results of a study that indicates that hospital room floors may be an overlooked source of infection . The study also got a mention in Physicians Weekly, which means that in all likelihood it’s been noticed by any of the regulatory folks—and you know what that’s likely to mean…

At any rate, once I got past the “no, duh” thought (somehow this comes as no surprise to me), I got to thinking about the complexities of cleaning, particularly as a function of the omnipresent application of dwell times for disinfectant products and the whole concept of keeping things wet long enough to kill the bugs.
