How to prevent The Joint Commission’s top Life Safety findings

The Joint Commission continues to cite hospitals for the same life safety violations every year, and your facility may have been cited for some of them too. Environment of care issues such as ceiling tiles, medical gas cylinders, and corridor clutter top the list of the most commonly found and cited violations during accreditation surveys.

Many of these seemingly commonsense issues fall under the umbrella of things that are meant to maintain a safe and functional environment: ventilation issues, means of egress, fire safety equipment, documentation, and fire protection features. So why aren’t hospitals learning?
