A pilot was killed and two people severely injured after the medical helicopter they were riding in crashed after takeoff from a Frisco, Colorado hospital July 3, according to a report from KKTV.

According to the report, the Flight for Life helicopter had just taken off from St. Anthony Summit Medical Center when it suddenly plummeted into a parking lot. After colliding with an RV, pickup truck, and camper, the helicopter burst into flames.

The pilot survived the crash, and according to witnesses quoted in the report, he was able to break open the helicopter's windshield and escape, but he apparently died from his injuries later. The two passengers, described as "medical personnel," were pulled from the wreckage and are expected to survive. There were no patients on board the helicopter.
