A brazen midday robbery from a patient room at a St. Louis hospital has increased security measures at the facility, according to a report from WWLP-TV.

According to the report, a woman went into a 78-year-old patient's room at SSM-DePaul Health Center in the St. Louis suburb of Bridgeton and stole her purse and jewelry.

The report said the woman, who was described as biracial with a tie-dyed shirt posing as an employee, came in and told the patient the jewelry had to be taken off because of a procedure.

Hospital security staff are investigating the incident and reviewing surveillance video to hopefully catch the thief, according to the report.
