A prisoner who escaped custody Tuesday at a northern Virginia hospital with a guard’s gun was captured in Washington, D.C., according to a report from WNCN-TV.
According to police sources quoted in the report, one shot was fired early in the morning March 31 as a guard wrestled with Wossen Assaye at Inova Fairfax Hospital in Falls Church, Virginia. The suspect used the guard as a human shield and escaped wearing only a hospital gown.
According to the report, Assaye carjacked two cars during his escape before he was apprehended just before noon. According to the report, Assaye was being held on a federal bank robbery charge and was taken to the hospital last week after attempting suicide.
