A man has died after shooting himself in the lobby of a hospital emergency room in Woodbury, N.J. last Thursday, according to NBC News.

TV news station NBC 10 says the unidentified 26-year-old male walked into the emergency room at Inspira Medical Center Woodbury at 11:40 a.m. and shot himself in the head. The man was treated and flown by helicopter to an intensive care unit in Camden, N.J. where he was pronounced dead just after 5 p.m.

The station also reported that sources told police the man planned to commit suicide in front of his girlfriend, who works at the medical center, formerly known as Underwood Memorial Hospital.
