Why should hospital facility managers be concerned about rooster tails? Because they may lead to Joint Commission findings if you're not prepared. If you haven't guessed, we're not talking about poultry here, but rather a phenomenon caused by wheels on carts that's known as the rooster-tail effect: The wheels can whip up a spray of dirt and moisture from the floor, soiling the supplies on the bottom shelf of a wire rack cart.
