When hospitals talk about tracers, the focus is almost always on the accreditation or survey preparation department. Often crafted based on templates and tailored to the organization's needs, the task to build and improve such tracers-meant to help track and follow compliance on a given unit, department, or Joint Commission chapter's requirements-falls to the survey coordinator or accreditation specialist.
