A New Hampshire healthcare system is sharing its story of how it embarked on a sustainability program to address energy and resource use. According to Alex Jaccaci, MA, CHEP, the goal fits with the mission of Alice Peck Day (APD) Health Systems: to be stewards of the health of its community, organization, and the environment.

APD has seen a return on investment from its sustainability projects, Jaccaci says.

In fiscal year 2010, the hospital saw a net savings of over $40,000.

Jaccaci says engaging APD leaders in a discussion about climate change was key to the buy-in for the sustainability program.
