The team that performs a preconstruction risk assessment should be composed of a range of people from different disciplines, such as a safety, nursing, administration, infection control, maintenance, and housekeeping, to name a few.

The team must assemble prior to the start of any construction or renovation project, and should identify all susceptible patient safety populations that might be affected by the project. The team should meet regularly throughout the project and even after its completion until a final report and analysis of the team's efforts can be completed and delivered to senior administration.
