There are always costs associated with any upgrade project. The security director must show that he or she has taken the necessary steps to ensure that the hospital is getting a product that will make it more secure at the best price possible.

For example, the costs associated with making the transition to IP video can be rationalized by how much better the video quality will be; you will be able to actually recognize a person’s face instead of seeing a hazy blob that broke into your pharmacy.

Finally, for a significantly sized upgrade project or new construction project, the hospital should hire a consultant. On average, our fee is paid for by the money that can be saved by letting us assist in the process.
