Requiring workers who decline flu shots to wear masks from November through March is credited with Geisinger Health System, Danville, PA, attaining a higher than average influenza vaccination rate. Geisinger achieved a 95% influenza vaccination rate for clinical employees and 92% rate for all employees groups as a result of its modified mandatory flu shot policy.
Also in influenza vaccination news, the CDC published a report showing that next to a doctor’s office, the most frequent place to receive seasonal flu shots in the U.S. was in retail establishments such as supermarkets and drug stores. Workplace vaccination sites were third on the list.
