New emergency room opens in new facility in Hartford

After three years of construction, St. Francis Hospital in Hartford, CT, opened a $184 million building that houses a new emergency room, eight critical care rooms, and twice the previous amount of trauma beds.
The new ER had its first trauma patient within six minutes of opening, reports WFSB-TV of Groton, CT.
Each new trauma room is private and contains televisions, computers, and areas for visitors to sleep. The new facility also features a new helipad and more than a dozen ambulance bays, according to WFSB.
