Patient exposures from contaminated devices and substandard work practices, especially in ambulatory settings, is a nationwide concern among infection control and patient safety advocates, and for two doctors, noncompliance has caught up with them.

A Plattsburgh, NY, nephrologist and a Las Vegas urologist recently had their practices restricted because they failed to follow the most basic infection control concepts that placed patients in danger of exposure to bloodborne infections.
