A new tool created by the New Jersey Hospital Association will help nursing homes deal with an influenza pandemic. Planning Today for a Pandemic Tomorrow: A Toolkit for Nursing Facilities helps nursing homes review and develop policies and procedures, identify gaps, and generate a pandemic influenza plan that will facilitate a more effective response during a crisis.
Of particular interest to worker safety, the human resources module checklist addresses:
- Protecting workforce during a pandemic
- Minimizing staff absenteeism and its impact on operations
- Reassigning staff duties
- Isolation and quarantine
