Failure to meet fire code standards caused the closure of the psychiatric unit in The University of Kansas Hospital on Monday, November, 1.
According to KansasCity.com, the fire marshal arrived at the hospital and alerted staff to quickly take care of the code violations, which were not specified.
Last week, the hospital closed down 20 of its inpatient beds to start renovating, leaving only 12 available. Hospital spokesman Dennis McCulloch told KansasCity.com that renovations are to be completed in days, not weeks, and that everything, including fire code violations, should be back to normal.
