A not uncommon Joint Commission finding (EC.02.03.05 is still in the top five most-cited standards during TJC surveys) relates to the ways and means of documenting the testing of life safety devices that you would generally have in quantities of more than a few. Now, there has certainly been a lot of discussion about requirements for an inventory of devices. You know the ones that cause the greatest amount of angst – smoke detectors, pull stations, magnetic holdbacks, audible/visual devices – these don’t exist in ones and twos, but rather tens and hundreds.
