State department investigates hospital after worker complaints

After an employee at The Acadia Hospital in Bangor, ME filed a complaint to OSHA at the end of July, the State Department of Health and Human Service has begun an investigation at the 100-bed psychiatric facility. OSHA has been investigating the hospital during the month of August and state regulators are expected in the coming weeks, according to The Bangor Daily News.

Acadia Hospital nurse Katie Gardner told the newspaper that she did not file the compliant, but said new policies prohibiting the use of restraints have left employees feeling vulnerable to patient attacks.
