Q: Where can I find information about the most recent fines and citations given to physician offices? Is that public information? I think it would help to know this so we can make sure we are compliant with similar situations.
A: Yes, that information is public but not easily accessible. The OSHA Statistics and Data Web page allows you retrieve data on standards cited for types of healthcare facilities, but it won’t tell which specific sections of a standard apply or provide information on the average amount of the fine.
Once a year in consecutive issues, Medical Environment Update publishes reports on physician practice fines that is more detailed and user friendly. For example, it not only gives the most common fines, but also the most expensive fines.
You can down the most recent OSHA fines for physician practices report on the OSHA Healthcare Advisor Tools page.
