Emergency Management Tip: Achieving Buy-in

Getting buy-in from your hospitals' senior leadership is the first step to ensure administrative support and proper alignment of your facility's needs and responsibilities when it comes to emergency preparedness.
Seek out a person who is interested in emergency preparedness and also serves in a Hospital Command System command staff role. Some suggestions to help you advocate for your emergency management program include focusing on how low resources could lose the hospital money through fines, produce a poor image, come across as less prepared than other facilities, and the potential to lose accreditation.
