Emergency Management Tip: Scaling up the security staff and resources
Emergency Management Alert, January 26, 2010
When managing hazardous incidents, it's important to consider everything that will need to be done ahead of time. Because of the need for a recognizable security presence, hospitals should plan to scale up their security staff, both from within the hospital and with support from external agencies.
You can deputize and train hospital staff members to serve in a security role, especially form departments located near entrances. Purchase and store additional security vests in a strategic location so that deputized staff members can rapidly increase the security presence in a disaster, infant abduction, or other issue.
