Florida hospitals on alert to receive Haitian patients
Emergency Management Alert, January 26, 2010
Southern and Central Florida hospital have been put on alert for possible evacuees from Haiti, reports a local Fox affiliate.
Though most evacuees have been treated in hospitals in and around Miami, central Florida hospitals, including Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children, Orlando Regional Medical Center, and Florida Hospital are all now on alert.
Safety Director for Florida Hospital Bill McDevitt says the alert's cause was partly because of the influx of people Miami is about to experience because of the Super Bowl and Pro Bowl, and victims of the earthquake in Haiti are expected to continue to be evacuated to Florida for treatment.
