Emergency Management Tip: A qualified emergency management coordinator
Emergency Management Alert, December 22, 2009
Emergency management coordinators (EMC) don't appear out of thin air. Nor is EMC an entry-level position. EMCs usually have to be able to immediately assume significant responsibilities with their role. With that said, although the job function of the EMC has been around for some time, the field is just getting around to specifically identifying this job title. So who fits the bill?
The answer is that it varies form hospital to hospital. But if you're looking to hire this position or you want to delineate your own role a little more clearly, ensure you are looking for the appropriate education preparation and experience. For more on EMC qualifications, check out HCPro's book, The Emergency Management Coordinator's Handbook for Hospitals.
