Major snow storms slam much of the country

A snow storm crept up the Eastern coast over the weekend, prompting an emergency declaration in the nation's capital and stranding hundreds vehicles and traveler's alike, and causing major caused power outages, reports CNN.com.
Mid-Atlantic and southern New England states were slammed the hardest. West Virginia declared a state of emergency, and many states saw record-breaking precipitation.
In Washington, D.C., nine people were taken to a hospital after a bus and a city snow plow collided. Meanwhile, about 28,000 North Carolina residents had no power into Sunday night, according to CNN.com.
