Southeast Michigan hospitals prepare for flu
Emergency Management Alert, November 24, 2009
With a rise in patients with flu symptoms and a warning from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) that flu season begins in mid-December, Southeast Michigan hospitals are gearing up, according to Crain's Detroit Business.
Though Michigan has typically seen fewer H1N1 infected patients than other states, hospitals in the area have received supplies such as emergency equipment, ventilators, respirators, cots, facemasks and gloves through the federal government H1N1 pandemic assistance program. Experts also warn that the Thanksgiving holiday may help spread the flu.
