The American Nurses Association (ANA) recently offered strong opinions on the two pressing H1N1 influenza safety issues affecting the profession, access to N95 respirators and mandatory flu vaccinations.
On the first matter, the association told the CDC that reported shortages of N95 respirators were unacceptable and could have an adverse affect on the quality of patient care.
Concerning mandatory vaccinations for H1N1, however, the ANA refuses to support this controversial issue unless a list of conditions is in place. See “ANA nixes forced flu shots, except under special circumstances” for more details.
