Although Lysol might be effective in killing 99% of bacteria on your kitchen counter, it’s not intended for counter surfaces in medical facilities, Kathy Rooker writes on our sister blog, OSHA Healthcare Advisor.
Hospitals must choose a disinfectant registered with the Environmental Protection Agency to ensure you are killing HIV and hepatitis B. Once you have chosen the appropriate product, make sure the housekeeping schedule is up-to-date and provides cleaning frequency, Rooker says.
Visit OSHA Healthcare Advisor for more advice from Rooker and to download sample cleaning schedules.
