Emergency Management Tip: Proactive approaches to your HVA
Emergency Management Alert, October 20, 2009
Emergency Management Tip: Proactive approaches to your HVA A hospital should review their hazard vulnerability analysis (HVA) annually with key community partners as well as the hospital's emergency management team and environment of care committee. The review should also assess the hospital's capability to respond to various threats, advance mitigation strategies, and plan exercises to trend progress in meeting objectives.
Key community partners that can contribute information to hospital HVAs include:
- Community first-responder agencies
- County emergency management
- Local emergency planning council
- Local chamber of commerce
- University environmental health and safety experts
For more information about improving your HVA, read HCPro's book, The Emergency Management Coordinator's Handbook for Hospitals.
