Georgia governor asks for emergency disaster declaration

After a week's worth of heavy flooding, Georgia Gov. Sonny Perdue is asked President Barack Obama for an emergency disaster declaration, reports First Coast News.

Hazardous road conditions have forced school closings, and floods have claimed nine lives. Some counties are under advisories to boil drinking and cooking water, and more than 300 people are in state shelters, reports First Coast News.
