Joint Commission uses D icons for documents, at times

As we noted in part one of our series in the September Healthcare Life Safety Compliance, recordkeeping requirements are sparse in the Life Safety Code® (LSC).
However, The Joint Commission takes a stronger stance on paperwork, going as far as to mark individual elements of performance (EP) with a circled “D” icon if documentation is required. Beyond that icon, though, there are plenty of implied documentation provisions in the life safety standards, some of which surveyors review.
Let’s look in more detail at one of the standards in question, LS.01.01.01, which mandates compliance with the LSC and electronic Statement of Conditions (SOC).
