Hospital to workers: Get a flu shot or else!

The largest hospital in West Virgina has given its employees an ultimatum: “Get a flu vaccine or find another job,” reports the Charleston Gazette, August 29.
The Charleston Area Medical Center wants its approximately 6,000 hospital workers to receive vaccinations for influenza. Employees have until September 15 to file reasons for declining; all other workers have until December 15 to be vaccinated.
Last week OSHA Healthcare Connection reported that New York State has implemented a mandatory flu shot policy for facilities regulated by certain sections of the New York public health law.
