National Preparedness Month prompts Americans to prepare, volunteer, for emergencies

Emergency Management Alert, September 1, 2009

September is National Preparedness Month, and the Federal Emergency Management
Agency (FEMA) is urging U.S. residents to prepare with three simple steps: get a kit,
make a plan, and stay informed as part of its “Ready” campaign.

The sixth annual National Preparedness Month is designed to encourage Americans to take steps to prepare for emergencies in their homes, businesses, and communities. Its Web site, www.ready.gov, offers guidance to help effectively plan for emergencies.
