DHS considers change to terror scale

The multi-colored terror alert system created after the 9/11 attacks is now under review, according JEMS.com.
Opponents of the system have often said it is an abused political tool, used it as a cue for the public to refocus on terrorist news instead of something else. The Obama administration has organized a 17-member task force consisting of Democrats and Republicans, and will be chaired by former FBI Director William Webster and the former White House homeland security adviser, Fran Townsend, according to JEMS.com
The alert level has not been changed since 2006 when it was raised from yellow to red then lowered to orange in the aviation sector after it was discovered that terrorists planned to blow up jetliners en route to the U.S. from Britain.
